Beautiful Crochet Corset Pattern
Whether you choose bright colors or soft tones, your handiwork will be a special addition to your wardrobe. Perfect for sunny days or layered looks, this crochet corset is a delightful project to express your personal style.
Materials Needed:
- Yarn (Abbey Road Kung Fu cotton yarn suggested)
- Crochet hooks (5.5 mm hook recommended; 5.25 mm and 4.25 mm were used in the video due to yarn thickness differences)
- Scissors
Corset Top Pattern:
Bottom Shell Stitch Portion:
- Start with a Slip Knot: Make an X on your fingers and insert the hook to pull the bottom loop through.
- Chain Stitches: Chain enough stitches to fit around your waist comfortably; the example used 88 chains.
- Extra Chains: Add two extra chains to the starting chains.
First Row (Shell Stitch):
- Skip the first two chains.
- Into the third chain, work three double crochets (DC), chain one, and then another three DCs into the same chain.
- Skip two chains, into the third chain, work a DC, chain three, then another DC into the same chain.
- Continue these two alternating stitches across the entirety of the chain.
Second Row:
- Start by chaining two and turning your work.
- Work three DCs, chain one, three more DCs into the V shapes from the previous row.
- Work a DC, chain three, and a DC into the open spaces of the shells from the previous row.
Continue this pattern for the entire row.
- Subsequent Rows: Repeat the second row pattern until the piece reaches your desired length.
Transition to Top Half with Lemon Peel Stitch:
- Start Top Half: Flip the project upside down and start working on the first row at the top.
First Row (Lemon Peel Stitch):
- Start with a single crochet (SC) stitch across the entire bottom part with a new color or continue with the same color.
Lemon Peel Stitch Pattern:
- Alternate between SC and DC stitches along the row.
Next Row:
- Alternate between doing a DC into the SC from the previous row, and an SC into the DC from the previous row.
Cutouts and Finishing the Top:
Create Cutouts:
- Measure and fold your work in half to determine the middle spot for the cutouts.
- Chain enough (e.g., 13 in the video) to skip the cutout area and continue the lemon peel stitch after the chain.
Joining Sides:
- Repeat the same steps for creating a cutout and lemon peel stitch on the other side of your work.
Edge Work and Cinching:
- Optionally, you can add a contrasting color around the edges with SC stitches for a framer look.
- Convert the bottom part into a cinch by weaving yarn through the stitches.
Corset Style Lacing:
- Thread yarn through the back of the work in a corset-style lacing.
Finish Off:
- Cut and weave in all loose ends.
Finalizing:
- Try It On: After all the weaving and cinching, try on your top and adjust it as necessary for the perfect fit.
Tips:
- Always count your stitches, especially when creating symmetrical parts like the cutouts.
- Adjust the number of chains for cutouts if using a thinner yarn than suggested.
- Make sure to add enough rows for the top half of the corset to comfortably cover your bust area.
