Whisper Crochet Fluffy Turtleneck Sweater Pattern Free

A turtleneck is like a warm hug on a chilly day! In today's fun crochet project, we’ll make a stylish sweater using the Hobbii Mohair Delight in Light Blue. It shows a cozy turtleneck, worked with half double crochet stitches into the back loop, making it both warm and trendy. The main body uses the textured lemon peel stitch, giving it a unique look. So, why not upgrade your winters fashion with this trendy and warm accessory!

Whisper Sweater How To Crochet Cozy Fluffy Turtleneck

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn: Hobbii Mohair Delight in Light Blue
  • Hooks: 6.00mm crochet hook for the starting chains, 5.00mm crochet hook for the rest of the sweater
  • Other Supplies: stitch markers, scissors, yarn needle

Gauge:

  • Sample swatch 10x10cm: 14 stitches x 13 rows

Abbreviations:

  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • hdc: half double crochet

Stitch Patterns:

  • Lemon Peel Stitch: Alternate sc and dc across the row.
  • Turtleneck (Ribbing): hdc in the back loop only

General Instructions:

  1. Main Panels:
    • Starting Chain: Odd number of stitches. For size M, start with 61 chains using the 6.00mm hook. Keep the chains loose.
    • Foundation Row: Start in the second stitch from the hook, make a sc. Dc in the next stitch. Alternate sc and dc until the end of the row. Sl st in the last stitch.
    • Subsequent Rows: Ch 1, turn. Sl st into the back loop only. This will be the bottom of the sweater. Continue with the Lemon Peel Stitch (sc over sc, dc over dc) until the panel reaches the width specified for your size:
      • XXS: 18cm
      • XS: 20cm
      • S: 21cm
      • M: 23cm
      • L: 24cm
      • XL: 26cm
      • XXL: 28cm
  2. Turtleneck:
    • Last Row: Ch 33 for the turtleneck part. Adjust the chain length if you prefer a longer or shorter turtleneck.
    • Turtleneck Foundation Row: Start in the second stitch from the hook, make hdc in the next 32 sts. Mark the last hdc with a stitch marker.
    • Continue Lemon Peel Stitch: Continue with Lemon Peel Stitch for the rest of the row.
    • Next Rows for Turtleneck: In the turtleneck section, work hdc into the back loop only. Continue until the turtleneck reaches the following length:
      • XXS, XS: 16cm
      • S, M: 18cm
      • L, XL, XXL: 20cm

  1. Completing the Main Panels:
    • Left Shoulder: Work an even number of Lemon Peel Stitch rows to the desired width (for size M, example 30 rows).
    • Turtleneck: Ensure the turtleneck section has an odd number of rows (for size M, example 23 rows).
    • Right Shoulder: Continue working Lemon Peel Stitch for the right shoulder, matching the number of rows as the left shoulder.
    • Total Rows: For example, size M panel has a total of 83 rows (30 rows for left shoulder, 23 rows for turtleneck, and 30 rows for right shoulder).
    • Repeat: Make a second identical panel.

  1. Sleeves:
    • Starting Chain: For example, for size M, start with 56 chains.
    • Lemon Peel Stitch: Follow the Lemon Peel Stitch pattern for the sleeve, leaving the last 12 stitches for the cuff.
    • Cuff: Work hdc into the back loop only in the last 12 stitches.
    • Make a total of 43 rows for the sleeve.
    • Adjust Length: Sleeve lengths by sizes:
      • XXS-L: 34cm
      • XL-XXL: 42cm

  1. Assembly:
    • Sew the panels together using a preferred sewing method or refer to previous tutorials for guidance.
  2. Finishing Touches:
    • Weave in all loose ends with a yarn needle.
    • Block the sweater if necessary to shape it properly.

Helpful Notes:

  • Making a sample swatch to check your gauge is crucial before you begin.
  • Ensure that you follow the measurements specific to your size for the best fit.
