Pattern:
Gauge and Size:
- The finished headband measures 10 cm wide and 37 cm long.
- Keep in mind that the stitch pattern is very stretchy, so the headband will fit comfortably.
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
Instructions:
- Starting Chain:
- Begin with an even number of chain stitches. For this particular headband, chain 20.
- Row 1:
- Tip: To keep the project tidy, work into the back bumps of the chain.
- Skip the first ch.
- sl st in the next ch.
- sc in the following ch.
- Repeat [sl st, sc] across the row to the end.
- Ensure the last stitch in the row is a slip stitch (sl st).
- Row 2:
- Ch 1 (counts as the turning chain), turn your work.
- sl st in the first stitch (through both loops).
- For the following stitches, work in the back loops only: [sc in back loop of next stitch, sl st in back loop of next stitch].
- Ensure the last stitch in the row is a slip stitch (through both loops).
- Row 3 and Onwards:
- Ch 1, turn.
- Continue the pattern as in Row 2:
- Work the first and last stitch of the row through both loops.
- For all stitches in between, work in the back loops only following the pattern: [sc in back loop, sl st in the back loop].
- Repeat the Pattern:
- Repeat Row 3 until you have a total of 86 rows, or until the headband reaches the desired length.
- Completion:
- Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
- Sew the first row to the last row using your preferred method (slip stitch seam, whip stitch, etc.) to form the headband into a continuous loop.
Finishing:
- Weave in any loose ends with a yarn needle.
- Stretch the headband to see the texture created by the stitches.
Additional Tips:
- Feel free to adjust the number of starting chains if you want a wider or narrower headband.
