Materials

  • Yarn: Hue + Me from Lion Brand (5 Bulky Weight)
  • Main color (Example: Toast)
  • Contrasting/secondary color (Example: Shadow)
  • 12 mm hook for the body and collar
  • 8 mm hook for the cuffs
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors

  • Petite: For those 5'2" and under
  • Standard: One size fits most
  • Plus: For those 5'10" and taller

Pattern

Body Panel

  1. Foundation Double Crochet (FDC)
    • Create a slipknot and place it on your 12 mm hook.
    • Chain 4.
    • Yarn over, insert hook into the first chain, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through one loop (creating the FDC base), yarn over, pull through two loops twice (completing the first FDC).
    • Continue making FDC until you reach the required stitch count for your size.
  2. Alpine Stitch
    • Work over an odd number of stitches.
    • Row 1: Using the main color, create the foundation row with FDC.
    • Row 2: Attach the contrasting color, chain 1, turn, and single crochet (SC) across. Cut the contrasting yarn.
    • Row 3: Attach the main color, chain 2, turn, and double crochet (DC) in the first stitch. Front post treble crochet (FPTC) in the next stitch, skip the SC behind, DC in the next SC. Repeat across.
    • Save
    • Row 4: Using the contrasting color, SC across.
    • Row 5: Using the main color, chain 2, turn, DC in the first two stitches. FPTC in the next stitch, skip the SC behind, DC in the next SC. Repeat across.
    • Repeat Rows 2-5 until the panel reaches the required length for your size. Ensure to match your color-changing pattern.
  3. Seaming
    • Fold your panel at a 45-degree angle as if making a paper airplane, then seam the sides, leaving an armhole by seaming the top and bottom to the desired opening size (13 rows left open for the armhole).

  1. Attaching Yarn and Single Crochet Round
    • Using the main color and 8 mm hook, attach yarn to any row end in the armhole.
    • Single crochet evenly around the armhole opening. You should have 26 stitches for the open armhole.
    • Slip stitch to join, chain 2, and turn.
  2. Double Crochet Round
    • Double crochet in each stitch around.
    • Slip stitch to join, chain 2, and turn.
  3. Front and Back Post Double Crochet Round
    • Alternate between front post double crochet (FPDC) and back post double crochet (BPDC) around.
    • Slip stitch to join, chain 2, and turn.
    • Repeat this round until you reach the desired cuff length.

  1. Single Crochet Round

  3. Front and Back Post Double Crochet Round
