  • 6mm crochet hook
  • Scissors

  • SC: Single Crochet
  • HDC: Half-Double Crochet
  • DC: Double Crochet
  • HBS: Herringbone Stitch

Special Stitches

Herringbone Stitch (HBS):

  1. Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch. You should have 3 loops on your hook.
  2. Pull the first loop under the second loop on the hook. You should have 2 loops on your hook.
  3. Yarn over and pull through both loops.

Steps:

Front Panels

  1. Foundation Chain: Create an even number of chains that reaches from shoulder tip to about 2 inches away from the base of your neck (approximately 18 chains for 5.5 inches / 14 cm).
  2. Row 1 (SC): Block off the last chain and create a chain up of 1. In the chain that you blocked off, insert with a SC. Continue to put one SC into every chain.

    • Chain 2 and flip your work.
    • Yarn over, insert into the first stitch, yarn over and pull through (3 loops on hook), pull first loop under second loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops. Continue across the row.

  7. Row 8-9 (Alpine Stitch)

    • Repeat alternating between FPDC and HDC.
  8. Row 10 (SC): Complete one row of SC.
