  • Thread of contrasting color (for markers)
  • Scissors

Pattern Steps:

Head:

  • Start by making two chain stitches or a magic circle.
  • Crochet 6 single crochet stitches into the second stitch from the hook.
  • Place a marker; crochet two single crochet stitches in each stitch around for round two (total 12 stitches).
  • For round three: 3 single crochet stitches, 1 increase repeat 3 times (total 15 stitches).
  • Continue: 3 single crochet stitches, 1 decrease repeat 3 times (total 12 stitches).
  • Next, 4 single crochet stitches, 2 decreases, 4 more single crochet stitches once.
  • Stuff the head lightly and secure the end.

Flippers (make four):

  • 6 single crochet stitches into the circle.
  • Each stitch gets 2 half-double crochet stitches.
  • Fold flippers, crochet the edges together.

Shell:

  • 6 single crochet stitches into the circle.
  • Make six evenly spaced increases per round until you reach 36 stitches.
  • 1 single crochet, 1 increase repeat six times.
  • 2 single crochets, 1 increase repeat six times.
  • 3 single crochet stitches, 1 increase repeat six times.
  • 4 single crochet stitches, 1 increase repeat six times.
  • Crochet one single crochet in each stitch around through back loops only.

Attaching Parts:

  • Attach the head to one end of the shell.

Finishing Touches:
