Easy & Cute Crochet Turtle Amigurumi Pattern

Once upon a time, in a cozy little room filled with balls of colorful yarn and the gentle clicking of crochet hooks, a cute crochet turtle amigurumi began to take shape. With every loop and knot, its soft, green body and adorable shell came to life, stitch by stitch.

  • Round 3: 1 SC in the first stitch, 2 SC into the next stitch; repeat * around (18 SC).
  • Round 4: 1 SC in the first two stitches, 2 SC into the third stitch; repeat * around (24 SC).
  • Round 5-7: SC in each stitch around (24 SC each round).
  • Insert safety eyes between rows 4 and 5.
  • Round 8: 1 SC in the first two stitches, decrease (invisible decrease) over the next two stitches; repeat * around (18 SC).
  • Round 9: 1 SC in the first stitch, decrease over the next two stitches; repeat * around (12 SC).
  • Add stuffing to the head.
  • Round 10: Repeat round 9 (8 SC).
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Use a slip stitch to secure the last round and weave in ends.

Create a magic circle.

  • Round 1: Chain 1 (not counted as a stitch), 8 SC into the magic circle, pull the loop tight.
  • Round 2: 2 SC into each stitch from previous round (16 SC).
  • Round 3: 1 SC in the first stitch, 2 SC into the next stitch; repeat * around (24 SC).
  • Round 4: SC in each stitch around (24 SC).
  • Fold work, single crochet through both layers to close up the leg, making 12 stitches.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing, and weave in ends.

Shell (Upper Body):

  • With a new color, create a magic circle.
  • Round 1: Chain 1 (not counted as a stitch), 6 SC into the magic circle, pull the loop tight.
  • Round 2: 2 SC into each stitch from previous round (12 SC).

Continue increasing in a similar pattern as with the head and legs for several rounds until you have:

4 Save

  • Round 3 with 18 SC
  • Round 4 with 24 SC
  • Round 5 with 30 SC

After reaching the desired size of the shell (with 36 stitches), work one single crochet back loop only into each stitch for one round (this creates a ridge).

  • Fasten off the colored yarn and weave the tail ends.

Assembly:

  • Attach the legs and head to the shell by single crocheting them together onto the shell base.
  • Ensure everything is positioned symmetrically and secure fully.
  • Add the safety eyes and stuff the body, ensuring it’s firm but not overly tight.
  • With the same color as the body, continue decreasing stitches evenly around until the body is closed up.
  • Weave in all ends securely.
