Snowman Head and Body:
Start by making a slip knot.
- Hold the yarn tail, wrap around two fingers, turn your hand, go under the first strand, pull the second one up, remove fingers, and tighten to create the slip knot.
- Chain two.
- Make 8 single crochet stitches in the second chain from the hook using the "yarn under" technique.
- Pull on the yarn tail to close the top of the head, ensuring the yarn tail is inside the head.
- For rounds three to five, single crochet in each stitch to maintain a total of 16 stitches.
- Round six, start the body: make eight invisible decreases.
- Round seven, make one increase in each stitch to return to 16 stitches.
- Round eight, single crochet one, then make an increase in the next stitch, repeat around for 24 stitches.
Rounds nine to eleven, single crochet in each stitch, keeping 24 stitches constant.
- Round twelve, single crochet one, then decrease using the next two stitches, repeat around for a total of 16 stitches.
- Round thirteen (final round), make a slip stitch, leave a yarn tail to close the bottom body opening and stuff the body.
- Use the yarn tail to tie off and hide it inside the crochet work.
Face and Features:
- Place safety eyes between rounds four and five.
- Embroider cheeks close to the eyes using pink yarn.
- Embroider eyebrows using black yarn, one stitch above the eyes.
Nose:
- Use orange yarn and a 4mm crochet hook.
- Insert the hook from the inside between the eyes, pull the yarn through, and chain four.
- Work half double crochet stitches down the chains.
Insert the hook under the two strands used to start, yarn over, pull through and through the working loop.
Scarf:
- Chain 43 with a coloured yarn (e.g., red) and a 4mm crochet hook.
- Turn and work half double crochet stitches across to the end.
- Cut additional strands to add tassels at both ends of the scarf.
- Tie the scarf around the snowman's neck.
