This leopard amigurumi is truly charming with its spotted coat that looks just like a real leopard’s fur. It feels soft and cuddly, perfect for children or as a cute decoration at home. To make this project, you crochet the pieces separately head, body, legs, and ears then sew them all together. The main stitch used is the single crochet stitch, which creates a tight and sturdy fabric that’s great for stuffed toys. This pattern is perfect for beginners who are comfortable with basic crochet stitches, making it a fun and easy project to practice your skills.

The Free Crochet Leopard Amigurumi Pattern is a lovely gift idea for animal lovers, a charming decoration for any room, or a delightful collectible to add to your toy collection. How To Start This Pattern & Stitches Used

The pattern begins with a magic ring for both the body and limbs, growing outward in rounds. You’ll use single crochet throughout, working increases to form spheres, decreases to close shapes, and color changes at strategic points. Spot and whisker details are embroidered at the end, making this a great project to strengthen basic amigurumi construction and simple sewing.

The Pattern Itself

Head & Body (Golden yellow)

  • Round 1: MR, 6 sc (6)

  • Round 2: inc in each st (12)
  • Round 3: (inc, sc) x6 (18)
  • Round 4: (inc, sc x2) x6 (24)

  • Round 5: (inc, sc x3) x6 (30)
  • Round 6: (inc, sc x4) x6 (36)

You will see the head take a rounded shape with these increase rounds. If unsure, simply work outward from the center of a magic ring, increasing to make a firm sphere.

  • Rounds 7–11: sc in each st (36) for 5 rounds

This is now the largest diameter. Work even for a round head.

  • Round 12: (dec, sc x4) x6 (30)
  • Round 13: (dec, sc x3) x6 (24)

Insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9, about three stitches apart, centered on the face. Now lightly stuff head.

  • Round 14: (dec, sc x2) x6 (18)

Begin decreasing for neck/body and add stuffing as you go for shape.

  • Round 15: FLO: (inc, sc) x9 (27)

Work in front loop only to create a visible ridge for the neck.

  • Rounds 16–20: sc in each st (27) for 5 rounds

Continue stuffing, forming the body beneath the head. Body will curve naturally.

  • Round 22: (dec, sc) x6 (12)
  • Round 23: dec x6 (6)

Decrease rounds close the body. Stuff firmly but not overfilled for a nice oval shape. Finish with a slip stitch, weave tail through front loops of last round, cinch shut, and weave in end.

  • Round 3: (inc, sc) x6 (12)

  • Sew ears atop head, shaping as rounded triangles, three stitches apart.
  • Attach tail at lower back curve; bend tail as desired for personality.
  • Embroider nose: triangle shape, just below eyes, with black yarn.
  • Stitch black spots randomly over body, head, tail as desired.
  • Add optional whiskers below eyes (see below for technique).
  • Use pink yarn or makeup to blush cheeks or color inner ears for extra effect.

Not a pattern reader?

  • Make a stuffed round sphere for head/body, flat oval for belly, little stubs for arms/legs, triangle ears, narrow tail—all joined up and decorated with spots.

Optional Detail Techniques

  • Whiskers: Come up beneath eye, skip a stitch, return to origin, repeat for 2–3 lines.
  • Cheek/Ear blush: Use pink yarn with yarn needle or makeup sponge to add color.

Conclusion

Your little leopard is now ready with a classic amigurumi structure and plenty of opportunity for creative finishing. Use basic single crochet, increasing and decreasing, and invisible decrease methods. Embroider spots, cheeks, whiskers, and nose for character and personality. This plush is perfect for cat lovers, wild animal themes, or as a variation on classic amigurumi felines.
