Crochet candy corn amigurumi is a fun, colorful little project perfect for Halloween. This cute creation is made by crocheting in rounds using white, orange, and yellow yarn to make it look just like the classic candy.
Crochet Candy Corn Amigurumi
Starting with a magic circle, you add stitches to form the candy's iconic segments, finishing up with a round yellow base. You can even get creative by adding funny faces or different colors to make a zombie version. It's a delightful way to decorate your home for the season or give a unique, handmade gift to someone special.
Materials Needed:
- Worsted yarn in white, orange, and yellow (zombie version would need light green, medium green, white, and a little bit of black)
- 3.5 mm crochet hook (or size E hook)
- Yarn needle
- Stitch marker
- 12 mm safety eyes
- Polyester stuffing
Pattern:
White Section:
- Round 1: Begin with a magic ring. Work 5 single crochets (sc) into the ring. Pull the tail to close the circle. Place stitch marker in the last stitch.
- Round 2: Increase around by working 2 sc in each stitch around (10 sc total).
- Round 3: Single crochet around (10 sc).
- Round 4: (1 sc in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch) repeat around 5 times (15 sc total).
- Round 5: Single crochet around (15 sc). After this round, switch to orange yarn.
Orange Section:
Round 6:*(2 sc, increase) * repeat around (20 sc total).
- Round 7: Single crochet around (20 sc).
- Round 8: (3 sc, increase) repeat around 5 times (25 sc total). After this round, switch to yellow yarn.
Yellow Section:
Rounds 9-11: Single crochet around (25 sc). Repeat this pattern for three rounds.
Begin Decreasing:
Round 12: (3 sc, decrease) repeat around. Add safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10, and embellish with white yarn to create the eyes' highlights. Begin to fill the body with stuffing.
- Round 13: Working in back loops only, (2 sc, decrease) repeat around.
- Round 14: (1 sc, decrease) repeat around. Add more stuffing if needed.
- Round 15: Decrease a couple of times. You may want to avoid doing too many decreases in the round to prevent the base from becoming too pointy. Finish off with a slip stitch.
Finishing:
- Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail through a yarn needle and weave in and out of the final round's stitches to close the opening. Pull tight to cinch the opening closed and secure the end.
- Hide the remaining tail inside the body.
Optional: Repeat these steps using different colors for other variations, such as the zombie candy corn.
