Tallest Crochet Giraffe Amigurumi Pattern

Make a cuddly giraffe, stitched together with love, yarn by yarn, in bright yellows and soft browns. This isn't just any giraffe, but a special crochet one, brought to life through the art of amigurumi. With its wide, friendly eyes, and little horns that seem to reach up as if greeting the sun, it's a perfect buddy to hug or to decorate a cozy nook.

  • Stitch marker
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors

Pattern Overview:

1

Arms (Make 2):

  • Work a round of 12 SCs.
  • Change colors at the end of the round for contrasting lower arms.
  • Work 3 rounds of 9 SCs.
  • Stuff the bottom half of the arm lightly.
  • Close the opening with 4 SCs across the top.
  • Fasten off.

Legs (Make 2):

  • Repeat the arm's initial steps for the legs but continue with the main body color after changing colors.
  • Work 4 rounds of 12 SCs in the main color for both legs. For the second leg, do not fasten off as you will continue to work on the body.

2

Body:

  • Join legs with a chain and work around the tops of both legs and the chain to start the body.
  • Increase around to shape the body and follow by several rounds of SCs to lengthen the body.
  • Gradually decrease to shape the top of the body.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Head:

  • Start with a magic circle, increasing in rounds to create a sphere.
  • Insert safety eyes between round adjustments.
  • Decrease towards the neck area. Stuff the head firmly.
  • Continue with a long tube for the neck. Stuff as you go.
  • Attach the head to the body using the long tail left from the body.

Ears (Make 2):

  • Begin with a magic circle, work a few rounds increasing slightly to shape the ears.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew the ears to the head.

3

Horns (ossicones) (Make 2):

  • Start with a darker color yarn, create a small cone shape.
  • Change to the body color yarn, continue to work a few more rounds.
  • Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Muzzle:

  • With white yarn, create a rounded piece starting with a magic circle and increasing.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for attaching to the face.

Spots:

4

  • Create multiple small and large spots with the contrasting yarn.
  • Sew them randomly across the body and legs.

Final Assembly:

  • Sew the ears and horns to the top of the head.
  • Embroider the details on the face using black and white DK yarn for the eyes and black yarn for the nostrils and mouth.
  • Sew the muzzle in place beneath the eyes.
  • Attach all spots securely to the body.
  • Create and attach a tail to the back of the body.

Tips:

  • Use stitch markers to keep track of rounds.
  • Stuff the limbs and body as you go to ensure even filling.
  • Adjust the size of the safety eyes or embroidered eyes as preferred.
  • Feel free to personalize your giraffe with different colors or additional decorative elements.
