Pattern:
Starting the Hat:
- Make a slip knot and chain 4.
- Slip stitch into the first chain to form a circle.
- Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), then make 11 double crochets into the circle.
- Slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to join. (Total: 12 double crochets)
Round 2:
- Slip stitch to the space between the posts of the double crochet.
- Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), make 1 double crochet in the same space.
- 2 double crochets in the next space between the posts, repeat from * to end of round.
- Slip stitch to join. (Total: 12 clusters)
Round 3:
- Slip stitch to the space between the posts.
- Chain 3, make 2 more double crochets in the same space.
- 3 double crochets in the next space, repeat from * to end of round.
- Slip stitch to join. (Total: 12 clusters)
For Round 4:
- Slip stitch to the space between the posts.
- Chain 3, make 3 more double crochets in the same space.
- 3 double crochets in the next space, 4 double crochets in the following space, repeat from * to end.
- Slip stitch to join.
Round 5:
- Slip stitch to the middle of the 4 double crochet cluster.
- Chain 3, make 2 more double crochets in the same spot.
- In the next spaces: Make clusters of 3 double crochets.
- When you reach the middle of the 4 double crochet cluster from the previous row, make a cluster of 3 double crochets.

Rounds 6-10:

Color Change (optional):

Brim of the Hat:
- Slip stitch to the space between the posts.
- Chain 3, 4 double crochet (total) in first space, 3 in the next, repeat this sequence all around.
- Slip stitch to join.
Round:
- Slip stitch to the space between the posts.
- Chain 3, make 2 more double crochets to make a cluster in the same space.
- 3 double crochets in the next space, repeat this sequence until you complete the round.
- Slip stitch to join.
Adding Extra Rounds for Brim (optional):
- Repeat the previous pattern by chaining up 3 and making 3 double crochet clusters.
- For the expansion round, alternate between clusters of 4 and 3 double crochets.
