Materials Needed
- For a detailed list, refer to the video description.
Making the Coaster:
Magic Ring & Base
- Begin with creating a magic ring.
- Chain 1, then work 12 double crochets into the ring.
- Pull the tail to tighten the ring, chain 1, cut the yarn, and then pull the tail again to secure.
Changing Yarn Color
- Find the middle between two loops, insert the hook, and attach the darker yarn.
- Insert your hook into the first double crochet stitch, loop the new yarn through, remove the hook, and re-insert it in the last stitch where the yarn was attached; pull through and chain 3.
Creating the Petal Base
- Double crochet into the next stitch, chain 1, and repeat this pattern (double crochet, chain 1) around for a total of 12 spaces.
- Slip stitch into the second chain of the beginning, chain 1, cut the yarn, and weave in the ends.
Adding the Petals
- Attach the red yarn into any space, chain 1, single crochet in the same space, and then complete 5 double crochets in the same space.
- Continue with 5 double crochets in each of the next spaces. After completing four spaces, single crochet into the next space and repeat 5 double crochets in the next six spaces.
Creating the Upper Part of the Petals
- Turn your work, chain 3, and make 29 double crochets, skipping the central chain.
- For the next stitch that sits above the dark yarn, loop through and single crochet.
- Chain 3, single crochet at the top when there's a loop visible. Follow by finding two loops above, single crochet, chain 3, and locate another loop, then single crochet under the first single crochet in-between.
Completing the Flower
- Chain 3, turn your work. Consider the chain of 3 as the beginning of the treble crochets.
- Add 5 more treble crochets into this space for a total of 6 treble crochets in each of the first three spaces.
- Follow by double crocheting in the last space, then start six treble crochets in the next spaces for a total of three times.
- Once completed, double crochet and cut the yarn.
