Materials Needed
Yarns:
- Main color (Pink - Jernar Dolce #750) - approx. 200 grams
- Belly color (Peach - Jernar Dolce #773) - about 20 grams
- Black yarn for the face (or any preferred colors)
Crochet Hook: Size 4mm (or suitable size for beginners)
- Scissors
- Filling material (for stuffing)
- Stitch marker (optional)
Body (Head to Tail)
Start the Head:
- Round 1: Chain 2, 6 SC in second chain from hook (6 sts).
- Round 2: Increase (2 SC in each stitch) around (12 sts).
- Round 3: [1 SC, Increase] around (18 sts).
- Continue increasing in this pattern (add one SC to the sequence in each round) until the stitches count reaches 54 sts.
- Then, crochet 12 rounds of 54 SC each without increasing.
Start Decreasing:
- Decrease the rounds by reversing the previous pattern, starting with [7 SC, Decrease] around, and then reducing the number of SCs between the decreases in each subsequent round until reaching 6 stitches. Secure and cut yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Insert the Eyes:
- Place them between rounds 13 and 14 from the start, spaced 9 stitches apart.
Complete the Body:
- Continue with rounds of SC, periodically decreasing to shape into the tail. Finish with several decrease rounds to close the body. Leave a tail for stuffing later.
Tail Finishing:
- Stitch in rounds and decrease respectively to shape the tail end, finally fasten and weave in the end securely.
Belly
Chain 7, beginning from the second hook, make 6 SC, turn.
Increase Sequence:
- First stitch: Increase, then 4 SC, finally another increase in the last, turn.
- Follow similar patterns of establishing rows of stitches, increasing at the beginning and end of each row until you reach a desired belly width and size.
Straight Rows:
- Once the width is achieved, continue with rows without increases to add length to the belly piece.
Assembly
Sew the Belly:
- Place the belly piece on the body and whip stitch around to attach it securely.
Fill the Body and Belly:
- Stuff the main body and the belly with filling material adequately to maintain shape but avoid over-stuffing.
Finishing Touches
Face Details:
- Use black yarn for facial features like eyes, nose, and mouth. Embroider with a needle to form the desired expressions.
Optional Additions:
- Attach small felt ears, or additional decorative elements as desired.
Notes:
- Always mark the beginning of each round with a stitch marker to keep track of rounds.
- Adjust hook size and yarn type according to the desired size and texture.
