  • 5mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Green yarn or your preferred color
  • Stuffing
  • 10mm safety eyes
  • Sewing needle
  • Stitch marker

Pattern Instructions:

Round 1:

  1. Start with a magic ring.
  2. Put 6 single crochets (sc) into the ring.
  3. Tighten the ring and place a stitch marker in the last stitch of the round.

Round 2:

  1. Put an increase in the first stitch (2 sc in the same stitch).
  2. In the next stitch, make a puff stitch followed by a sc (7 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull through all loops).
  3. Repeat step 2 for the next stitch.
  4. Increase in the next stitch.
  5. Puff stitch and single crochet in the next stitch.
  6. Finish with one sc in the final stitch. (11 stitches total)
  7. Save

Rounds 3-4:

  1. Single crochet in each stitch around. (11 stitches)

Round 5:

  1. Increase in the first stitch.
  2. Single crochet in the next ten stitches. (12 stitches)

Round 6:

  1. Single crochet in the first stitch.
  2. Increase in the second stitch.
  3. Single crochet in the next ten stitches. (13 stitches)

Round 7:

  1. Six single crochets in a row.
  2. Four increases (2 sc in the next four stitches).
  3. Three single crochets to finish the round. (17 stitches)

Round 8:

  1. Eight single crochet.
  2. Increase.
  3. Three single crochet.
  4. Increase.
  5. Three single crochet. (19 stitches)

Round 9:

  1. Single crochet in each stitch around. (19 stitches)

Round 10:

  1. Eight single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease (pick up the front loops of the next two stitches, yarn over, pull through).
  3. Three single crochet.
  4. Invisible decrease.
  5. Four single crochet. (17 stitches)

Round 11:

  1. Seven single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease.
  3. Three single crochet.
  4. Invisible decrease.
  5. Three single crochet. (15 stitches)
  6. Save

Round 12:

  1. Two single crochet.
  2. Increase.
  3. Twelve single crochet. (16 stitches)

Eyes Placement:

  1. Between rows 8 and 9, place the safety eyes about 8 stitches apart. Secure with the backs.

Round 13:

  1. Chain 10.
  2. Skip the first chain, slip stitch in the back bump of the second and third chains. Repeat to create three toes.
  3. Decrease into the bottom of the second toe and next chain in the original chain.
  4. One single crochet and five half double crochets (hdc) along the remaining chains.
  5. Single crochet into the next stitch on the round.
  6. Three single crochet, increase, two single crochet.
  7. Chain 10 to create the second leg, repeating the same as above.
  8. Three single crochet, puff stitch, two single crochet, puff stitch, and three single crochet. (19 stitches)

Round 14:

  1. Single crochet in each stitch around. (19 stitches)

Round 15:

  1. Increase.
  2. Five single crochet.
  3. Increase.
  4. Three single crochet.
  5. Puff stitch.
  6. Three single crochet.
  7. Puff stitch.
  8. Two single crochet. (21 stitches)

Round 16:

  1. Single crochet in each stitch around. (21 stitches)

Round 17:

  1. Twelve single crochet.
  2. Puff stitch.
  3. Four single crochet.
  4. Puff stitch.
  5. One single crochet. (21 stitches)

Round 18:

  1. Single crochet in each stitch around. (21 stitches)

Round 19:

  1. Thirteen single crochet.
  2. Puff stitch.
  3. Three single crochet.
  4. Puff stitch.
  5. One single crochet. (21 stitches)
  6. Save

Round 20:

  1. Single crochet in each stitch around. (21 stitches)

Round 21:

  1. Five single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease.

  1. Three single crochet.
  2. Chain 10 to create the third leg following earlier instructions.
  3. Two single crochet, invisible decrease, two single crochet.
  4. Chain 10 to create the fourth leg following earlier instructions.
  5. Five single crochet, puff stitch, increase, puff stitch, one single crochet. (19 stitches)

  1. Single crochet in each stitch around. (19 stitches)

Round 25:

  1. Single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease.
  3. Six single crochet.
  4. Invisible decrease, single crochet.
  5. Invisible decrease, puff stitch, two single crochet, puff stitch, increase, one single crochet. (19 stitches)

Round 26:

  1. Four single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease.
  3. Two single crochet.
  4. Invisible decrease, two single crochet, two decreases. (15 stitches)

Round 27:

  1. Ten single crochet.
  2. Puff stitch, two puff stitches in a row. (15 stitches)
  3. Save

Round 28:

  1. Four single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease.
  3. Five single crochet, increase. (14 stitches)

Round 29:

  1. Three single crochet.
  2. Two decreases, three single crochet, two puff stitches. (12 stitches)

Round 30:

  1. Three single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease.
  3. Single crochet.
  4. Invisible decrease, single crochet, increase. (11 stitches)

Round 31:

  1. Six single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease, single crochet. (9 stitches)

Round 32:

  1. Six single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease. (8 stitches)

Round 33:

  1. Five single crochet.
  2. Invisible decrease. (7 stitches)

Finishing:

  1. Stuff the alligator as needed.
  2. Sew up the tail using a drawstring closure.
  3. Pull tight and weave in the ends.
