Materials
- Medium or Aran weight yarn (~330g for size small)
- 6mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Darning needle
Back Panel
- Start with a slip knot and chain the required number based on your size. These chains form the height from under your arm to the desired top stop, accounting for added bottom trim.
- Use the slip stitch or back loop slip stitch for the main panels. Skip the first chain and slip stitch through the second chain from the hook and each subsequent chain to the end of the row.
- Chain 1 and turn. Continue with back loop slip stitches for the required number of rows based on your size.
- After completing these rows, start increasing every row on one side for the underarm curve while keeping the other side straight.
- Chain the required number based on your size to achieve the height from the underarm to the top of the shoulder.
- Join this chain to the increased side and continue with back loop slip stitches for the number of rows indicated for your size.
- Start with the decreases at one end to shape the armholes and neckline.
- After the decreases, continue with a straight section without increases or decreases, matching the other shoulder.
Front Panel
- Repeat the same steps as the back panel, with a variation in the number of rows for the straight sections and the depth of the neckline.
- The front panel will have a few extra rows compared to the back panel to create a lower neckline.
Trims (Waist, Neck, Armholes)
- Create trims by chaining the indicated number of stitches and performing single crochets in each chain. Working in the back loop only for several rows to achieve the desired length.
- Three types of trims: waist trim, neck trim, and armhole trim. Armhole trim includes "V" at the start and end to sit flush under the arm.
Assembly
- Stitch the front and back panels together at the shoulders and sides, with the right sides facing each other.
- Sew the trims onto their respective areas.
- For the waist and neck trims, stitch the short ends first to form rings, then attach these rings to the vest.
- For the armhole trim, attach the trim around the armhole and then sew the "V" shaped ends together under the arm.
- Weave in all loose ends for a neat finish.
