Materials Needed:

  • Plush yarn in three colors: yellow, orange, white (100grams = 120 meters)
  • Fiberfill for stuffing (hollow fiber recommended)
  • Crochet hook: 4 millimeters (or 3.5 mm for a smaller lion)
  • Cotton yarn (black) for face design
  • Stitch marker, scissors, durable thread for sewing parts together
  • Safety eyes: 8 millimeters
  • Plastic nose: 14-18 millimeters
  • Lighter, yarn needle
  • Glue (optional, if not using a safety plug for the nose)

Patterns:

Arms (Make 2):

Start with white yarn and a magic ring.

  • Round 1: 6 SC.
  • Round 2: (6 increases) = 12 SC.
  • Round 3-4: 12 SC.
  • Round 5: 3 decreases, 3 SC.
  • Change to yellow yarn, then 3 SC.

Fill part with fiberfill.

  • Crochet 7 rounds of 9 SC each.
  • Stuff arm, then fold and close with 3 SC and 1 slip stitch (SL ST).

Legs (Make 2):

2 Save

Begin with white yarn in a magic ring.

  • Round 1: 6 SC.
  • Round 2: 6 increases = 12 SC.
  • Round 3: (1 SC, Increase) 6 times = 18 SC.
  • Round 4: Only back loops, 18 SC.
  • Round 5-6: Continue with instructions, changing color to the main one as instructed.

Stuff the leg, fold, and close as described.

Tail:

3 Save

  • With orange yarn, 2 chains.
  • 6 loop stitches in the 2nd chain, continue as per instructions.
  • Change to main color, continue crocheting, and finalize as per detailed steps.
