Easy Crochet Baby Duck Amigurumi Pattern

This adorable crochet baby duck amigurumi is great to be a kid's favorite amigurumi! It's a small, cuddly toy made with colorful yarn. Crochet Baby Duck Amigurumi Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Yellow yarn (for the main body)
  • Orange yarn (for the beak)
  • Black yarn or safety eyes/beads (for the eyes)
  • Polyester stuffing
  • A blank earring (if you want to turn it into a keychain)
  • Crochet hook (3 mm recommended for tighter stitches)
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker (paper clip, yarn in a different color, or a proper stitch marker)
  • Scissors

Pattern Steps:

Body:

Start with a Magic Circle:

  • Wrap yarn over finger, forming a cross.
  • Insert hook under the cross, pull yarn through, yarn over, and pull through loop.
  • Make 6 single crochets (sc) into the magic circle.
  • Pull strand to close the circle.

Round 2 (Increase Round):

  • Make 2 sc in each stitch around (total of 12 sc).

Round 3:

  • Sc in next stitch, 2 sc in the following stitch. Repeat around (total of 18 sc).

For Round 4-6:

  • Sc in each stitch around (maintain 18 sc).

Placing the Safety Eyes (Optional):

  • Position between Rounds 5 and 6.

Round 7 (Decrease Begins):

  • Sc in next stitch, then make an invisible decrease. Repeat around (total of 12 sc).

Round 8:

  • Work in front loops only, sc in next stitch, increase in next. Repeat around (total of 18 sc).

For Round 9:

  • Sc in the next two stitches, increase in the next. Repeat around (total of 24 sc).

Tail:

Chain 4;

  • Skip the first chain and sc in the next 3 chains.

Round 10:

  • Sc in each stitch around the body and tail (total of 30 stitches).

Round 11:

  • Sc around, maintaining 30 stitches.
  • Decrease for Body Shaping:

For Round 12:

  • Sc in the next 3 stitches, invisible decrease in next two. Repeat around (total of 24 stitches).

Round 13:

  • Sc in the next 2 stitches, invisible decrease. Repeat around (total of 18 stitches).

Round 14:

  • Sc in the next stitch, invisible decrease. Repeat around (total of 12 stitches).
  • Stuff the body before closing.

For Round 15 (Closing):

  • Decrease in every stitch around (6 stitches).
  • Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for closing. Weave through final stitches and pull to close.

Wings (Make 2):

Start with a magic circle.

Round 1:

  • Make 6 sc in magic circle.
  • Close circle and slip stitch to join.

Round 2:

  • Chain 1, 2 sc in the same stitch.
  • Half double crochet in next, chain 2, slip stitch (picot). Repeat around.
  • Slip stitch to join and cut yarn leaving a tail for sewing.

Beak:

  • With orange yarn, work on 3 stitches between Rounds 5 and 6 for the beak.
  • Slip stitch to join yarn, chain 1, sc in next stitch, chain 1, and slip stitch again. Cut yarn, leaving a tail for weaving.

Assembly:

  • Sew on the wings according to your preferred position.
  • Sew or glue on eyes (if using safety eyes, insert before stuffing; if using beads or embroidering, complete after the body is done).
  • Attach keychain hardware using yarn tails at the top of the head.

Finishing Touches:

  • Optionally, you can add details such as a small bow or a hat using contrasting yarn colors.
  • Hide all yarn tails by weaving them into the body using a yarn needle.
