  • Buttons: Two-centimeter buttons
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • ch = chain
  • st = stitch
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • v-stitch = (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in the same stitch

Pattern:

  1. Slip Knot and Foundation Chain:
    • Make a slip knot.
    • Chain 53.
  2. Row 1:
    • Starting in the third chain from the hook, make 7 hdc.
    • Make a v-stitch (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in the next st.
    • Make 10 hdc in the next 10 sts.
    • Make a v-stitch in the next st.
    • Make 13 hdc in the next 13 sts.
    • Make a v-stitch in the next st.
    • Make 10 hdc in the next 10 sts.
    • Make a v-stitch in the next st.
    • Make 7 hdc.
    • You should end up with 59 stitches at the end of Row 1.
  3. Row 2:
    • Ch 1, turn work.
    • Make 7 hdc.
    • Make a v-stitch in the ch 1 space from the previous row.
    • Make 11 hdc in the next 11 sts.
    • Make a v-stitch.

  11. Joining for Sleeves:

  12. Row 11:
    • Ch 1, turn work.
    • Make 53 hdc.
  13. Rows 12, 13 and 14:
    • Continue making 53 hdc for each row.
  14. Sleeves:
    • Start with ch 1 and make 26 hdc.
    • Join the rounds with a sl st.
  15. Intervals for Buttonholes (Rows 16, 22):
    • Similar placement and stitching pattern as earlier rows involving buttonholes.
  16. Lower Section:
    • Continue as per pattern instructions for rows 25-26.
  17. Hood:
    • 45 hdc for 19 rows, joining edges.
