Boho Beach Cover-Up Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Light 3 weight yarn (cotton or cotton blend preferred)
  • Yarn Bee's Urban Chic (if available)
  • 6 mm crochet hook
  • 3.5-4 mm crochet hook (for the tie)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers

  • 3.5 oz, 275 yards per skein
  • Machine washable and dryable

  • Toddler: 140 chains
  • Child: 200 chains
  • Adult: 250 chains
  • Plus Size Adult: 250 chains

Instructions:

  1. Chain:
    • Toddler: 140 chains
    • Child: 200 chains
    • Adult/Plus Size: 250 chains
    • Save
  2. Row 1:
    • Half double crochet (HDC) into the second chain from the hook and in every chain across. (End with an odd number of HDCs).
  3. Row 2:
    • Turn your work. Start with a stacked single crochet to create a double crochet (DC).
    • DC in the next stitch.
    • Repeat: Chain 1, skip 1 stitch, DC into the next stitch. Repeat all the way down.
    • End with two DCs at the end.
  4. Row 3:
    • Chain 1, turn your work.
    • Half double crochet into every stitch and chain space across.
  5. Row 4:
    • Turn your work. Begin with a stacked treble crochet (TC).
    • TC in the next stitch.
    • Repeat: Chain 1, skip 1 stitch, TC into the next stitch. Repeat all the way down.
    • End with two TCs at the end.
    • Save
  6. Row 5:
    • Repeat Row 3 (HDC across).
  7. Row 6:
    • Turn your work.
    • Begin with a stacked double crochet.
    • Place a puff stitch into the next stitch: yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, pull through (repeat 3 times), yarn over, pull through all but the last loop, yarn over, pull through the last loop.
    • Chain 1, skip 1 stitch, puff into the next, repeat.
    • End with a DC in the last stitch.
  8. Row 7:
    • Chain and turn, stack two single crochets for a DC.
    • Skip the puff stitch, 2 DC into the chain space.
    • Repeat: Skip puff, 2 DC into the chain space all the way across.
  9. Row 8:
    • Start with a stacked double crochet.
    • Puff stitch between two DC groups, chain 1, skip two DCs, repeat.
    • End with a DC in the last stitch.
    • Save
  10. Row 9 to 11:
    • Repeat Row 3 (HDC across), Row 4 (TC), and again Row 3 (HDC).
  11. For All Sizes:
    • Repeat Rows 2 to 11 for the desired size:
      • Toddler: End after one full set of Row 11.
      • Child: Repeat once more Rows 2 to 11.
      • Adult: Repeat Rows 2 to 11 two more times.
      • Plus Size: Repeat Rows 2 to 11 three more times.
    • For every size, end with a final Row 2 and 3 pattern.
  12. Assembly:
    • Fold each panel in half, leaving a panel ten stitches longer in the back.
    • Seam the front neckline, leaving a space according to size.
    • Seam the back, leaving the same space open.
    • Fold in half again, seam the sides about ⅓ up from the bottom.
    • Create a tie using 2-3 hundred chains, depending on the desired length.
    • Weave the tie through the garment waist.
  13. Final Touches:
    • Weave in all ends, and ensure the stitches are secured.
