Crochet Heather’s Scarf

Materials Needed

  • Red Heart With Love (Weight: 4/medium – 370 yds, 7 oz, 198 g). 2 Skeins: 423 yds/ 8 oz
  • Size H 5mm Crochet Hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Scissors

Finished size

  • Approximately 8.5 inches wide by 72 inches long.

Stitches and Abbreviations

  • CH – Chain
  • BLOHDC – Half Double Crochet in the Back Loop Only
  • HDC – Half Double Crochet
  • ST(s) – Stitch(es)

Pattern

  • 1. CH 35
  • 2. Row 1: HDC in second CH from the hook. HDC in each CH across. (34)
  • 3. Row 2-4: CH1, turn, BLOHDC in each ST across.
  • 4. Row 5: CH1, turn, BLOHDC in first 5 STs, skip an ST, (HDC, CH1, HDC) in the next ST.

skip 2 STs, (HDC, CH1, HDC) in the next ST repeat 7 times or until you have 6 STs remaining.

Skip an ST, BLOHDC in the last 5 STs.

  • 5. Row 6–162: CH1, turn, BLOHDC in first 5 STs, (HDC, CH1, HDC) in next CH1 space repeat 8 times or until you have 6 STs remaining. Skip an ST, BLOHDC in the last 5 STs.

Working 162 rows will give you a scarf that is approximately 72 inches long. You can work more rows or fewer rows in this section to adjust the length of the scarf.

  • 6. Last Row 1: CH1, turn, BLOHDC in first 5 STs.

HDC in every ST and CH space until you have 5 remaining STs. BLOHDC in last 5 STs. (34)

  • 7. Last Rows 2-4: CH1, turn, BLOHDC in each ST across.
  • 8. Fasten off and weave in your ends, and your scarf is complete!
