How to Crochet Baby Booties In No Time

Materials Needed:

  • Pair of scissors
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Darning needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Medium weight (number 4) yarn (Lion's Brand Heartland yarn is used in the tutorial)

Pattern:

  1. Foundation Chain:
    • Chain 32.
    • Slip knot, insert 4 mm hook, yarn over and pull through 32 times (forms chain 32).
  2. Row 1:
    • Begin in the second chain from the hook.
    • Single crochet (sc) into this chain.
    • Single crochet into each of the next chains (total 31 single crochets).
    • Chain 1 and turn.

    • Single crochet into the back loop only.
    • In the first stitch, make 2 single crochets.
    • Then, make 13 single crochets in the back loop.
    • Make 2 single crochets in the next stitch.
    • Repeat 2 single crochets in another stitch, then single crochet 13.
    • Finish with 2 single crochets in the next stitch and 1 single crochet in the final stitch.
    • Chain 1 and turn.
  4. Row 3:
    • Single crochet 39 in the back loop.
    • Chain 1 and turn.

    • Start with 2 single crochets in the back loop.
    • Single crochet 17 in the back loop.
    • Make 2 single crochets in the next stitch, repeat for the next stitch as well.
    • Then single crochet 17.

    • Chain 1 and turn.
  6. Row 5:
    • Single crochet 39 in the back loop.
    • Chain 1 and turn.
  7. Row 6:
    • Start with 2 single crochets in the same stitch.
    • Single crochet 17.
    • In the next 2 stitches, make 2 single crochets.
    • Repeat the same in next 2 stitches.
    • Single crochet 17.
    • Finish with 2 single crochets in the same stitch and last 1 single crochet.
    • Chain 1 and turn.
  8. Row 7:
    • Single crochet 11, then do a single crochet two together.
    • Next 6 stitches: single crochet.
    • Perform another single crochet two together.
    • In next stitch: single crochet.
    • In next two stitches: single crochet together.
    • Single crochet 6.
    • Perform single crochet together.
    • Single crochet 11.
    • Chain 1 and turn.
  9. Row 8:
    • Change yarn color on the last stitch as shown in the video.
    • Continue single crochet 39 in the new color.
    • Chain 1 and turn.
  10. Row 9 to 11:
    • Rows in gradients reducing with nearly every eleventh crochet, all steps barring evenly spaced single crochet together stitches.

    • Single crochet 31 in the back loop.
    • Chain 1 and turn.
  12. Row 13 to 14:
    • Repeat a reduction in stitches marking single crochet together at every predefined interval of the previous totals.
  13. Row 15:
    • Implement the pre-defined pattern steps from earlier rows concentrating on 11 single crochet, and combining back-loop stitches.

  14. Ribbing:
    • Chain 13 and verify no twisting.
    • Single crochet 12 and integrate marker on the last stitch of first row.
    • Skip 1 stitch for alignment at 2 slip stitches – joined at sides.
    • Chain 1 and scale back up the ribbing.
  15. Sewing Together:
    • After ribbing the full 24 rows, cut out long tail to sew.
    • Align and stitch ensuring proper measurements/use stitch markers where necessary.
    • Begin sewing pulling thread cross stitches tautly.
  16. Weave Ends:
    • Darning needle under 4–5 stitches, draw and loop to first, reverse weave with zigzag.

  17. Final Step:
    • Right-Side-out the booty, adjust ribbing, and perfect.
