Materials:

  • Yarn of your choice
  • Crochet hook suitable for your yarn
  • Scrap yarn or stuffing material
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

  • MR: Magic Ring
  • sc: Single Crochet
  • inc: Increase (2 single crochets in one stitch)
  • hdc: Half Double Crochet
  • dc: Double Crochet
  • sl st: Slip Stitch
  • ch: Chain
  • st: Stitch
  • R: Round

Pattern:

Tulip Cup:

  1. Start:
    • Make a magic ring and work 6 sc into the ring.
    • Close the magic ring. (6)
  2. Round 1:
    • Inc in each st around. (12)
  3. Round 2:
    • 1 sc, 1 inc – repeat around. (18)
  4. Rounds 3 to 8:
    • Sc in each st around.
  5. Finish off:
    • Cut the yarn and chain 1 to secure. Make another tulip cup by repeating steps 1-5.

Tulip Stem:

  1. Start:
    • Make a slip knot, ensuring the tail before the slip knot is a bit long.
  2. Chain 45:
    • Chain 1 more as a knot, pull out and tighten.

Tulip Leaf:

  1. Start:
    • Make a slip knot and chain 6.
  2. Row 1:
    • 1 sc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in next st.
    • Insert hook into the same st but on the opposite side, pull the yarn back through and tighten.
  3. Repeat Row 1:
    • Insert hook into the same st, and do a single crochet, then follow the pattern: 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc.
  4. Finish off:
    • Sl st to secure. Chain 1 and cut the yarn.
  5. Make another leaf:
    • Chain 6, and repeat the pattern again.

  1. Connect Stem to Tulip Cup:
    • Use the crochet hook or darning needle to pull the tail of the stem through the center of the tulip cup (from the magic ring).
    • Tie a tight knot and pull the stem back through.
  2. Stuff the Tulip Cup:

  3. Close the Tulip Cup:
    • Use a darning needle to weave the yarn through the stitches at the open end and pull tightly to close.
