Materials Needed:

  • Brown, green, and yellow crochet yarn
  • Crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Wire (15 cm) for the leaves
  • Cotton for stuffing
  • Glue

Pattern Steps:

1 Save

Sunflower Center (Seep):

  • Row 1: Start with a magic ring. Make 6 single crochets into the ring, pull tightly, then slip stitch into the first stitch.
  • Row 2: Chain 1, make two single crochets in each stitch around (increase), repeat for total 6 increases, then slip stitch into the first stitch.
  • Row 3: Chain 1, single crochet in the first stitch, increase in the next stitch, repeat ** around, then slip stitch into the first stitch.
  • Row 4: Continue as above, increasing the number of single crochets between increases each row.

Stamens (Follow the same pattern as the Seep, but using brown yarn).

2 Save

Petals:

  • Hold the Seep and Stamens together, inserting the hook through corresponding stitches on each.
  • Chain 2, make a double crochet and a treble crochet into the same stitch, repeat ** for each pair of stitches around the Seep.
  • Chain 2 after each set of stitches, slip stitch to start the next set.

3 Save

Leaves:

  • Make a slip knot, then chain 8.
  • Put the wire along the chain, crochet around the wire; single crochet in the second chain from hook, half double crochet in next, then double crochet accordingly, mirror the pattern along the other side of the chain.

4 Save

Pot:

  • Row 1: Magic ring, 8 single crochets, slip stitch to first stitch.
  • Row 2: Chain 1, increase in every stitch, repeat ** around, then slip stitch.
  • Continue increasing rows, changing the pattern to add texture to the pot (e.g., only working in back loops).
  • After the desired pot height is achieved, stuff the pot with cotton.
  • Fasten off, weave ends.

5 Save

Assembly:

  • Sew the soil and the pot together.
  • Affix the wire to the leaves, glue if necessary to secure.
  • Insert the sunflower stem into the center, secure with glue.
  • Continue wrapping the yarn tightly around the wire to form the branch, finally securing it with a knot.
