Materials

  • 470 yards of worsted weight (4) yarn held together
  • G/4.00mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch marker

Notes

  • The pattern is worked in the round.
  • 2 strands of yarn are held together throughout the entire pattern.
  • Size: When laid flat, Width = 13 inches, Length = 13 ½ inches
  • Gauge: Approximately 12 rows of 9 scs = 2 inches
  • Stitches and Abbreviations used: Slip stitch (Sl st), Chain (ch), Single crochet (sc), Cross double crochet (Cross dc), Foundation single crochet (Foundation sc).

Pattern

  1. Work 108 foundation scs (Counts as row 1). Sl st into the first sc, ch 1.
  2. Round 2-7: 1 sc in every st (108). Sl st into first st, ch 1.
  3. Ch 2 at the end of round 7. From now on, do not join at the end of each round, instead work in a continuous spiral.
  4. Round 8: Skip first st, in next st work 1 dc, go back and work 1 dc in the skipped st (work this dc around the 1st dc). Continue working Cross dc around (108)
  5. Round 9: Work the first dc in the first dc from round 8, work the next dc in the ch 2. Continue working Cross dc around (108)
  6. Round 10-27: Work Cross dc around (108)
  7. Round 28: Work 82 foundation scs (alternative is ch 82), skip 25 sts, work 1 dc in next st. Go back and work 1 dc in the 25th st (this creates a Cross dc). Work Cross dc for the next 32 sts repeat one more time. (17 Cross dc on either side of the handles)
  8. Round 29-33: 1 sc in every st (224)
  9. Sl st into st. Fasten off and weave in loose ends.

Bottom

  1. Flip the bag inside out and lay flat.
  2. Sew on the line to close the bottom of the bag.
  3. On each side of the bottom, fold to create a point. Sew on the line.
  4. Tack the triangle down on the lines.
  5. Repeat on the other side. Flip the bag back right side out.
