Instructions:

Start Chain 63 (multiple of 3). Join in the furthest chain from the hook with a slip stitch, ensuring not to twist the chain.

Round 1:

1. Chain 3.

  • 2. Skip 2 chains.
  • 3. In the next chain, wrap yarn around the hook and bring up a loop (3 loops on the hook).
  • 4. Wrap yarn around the hook and pull it through the first two loops (2 loops on the hook).
  • 5. Wrap yarn around the hook and bring up a loop from that same chain (4 loops on the hook).
  • 6. Wrap yarn around the hook and pull it through the first two loops (3 loops on the hook).
  • 7. Wrap yarn around the hook and pull it through all three loops.

Chain 2.

  • 8. Then, working into that same chain, repeat the process to create a cluster V stitch.
  • 9. Skip two chains, then work a cluster V into the next chain. Repeat from * around the round.
  • 10. At the end of the round, join with a slip stitch in the topmost chain.

Round 2:

1. Chain 3.

  • 2. Working into the chain 2 spaces from the previous round, repeat the steps for the cluster V stitch from round 1 (instead of working into the chains, you’ll work into the chain 2 spaces).
  • 3. To finish off the round, join with a slip stitch in the topmost chain.
  • 4. Repeat Round 2 for the desired height. The cowl shown is 11 inches tall.
  • 5. Finishing: Weave in any ends that remain.
