Starting Your Granny Square:

  • Begin with a slip knot and chain 3.
  • Slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.
  • Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet).
  • Double crochet into the ring, chain 2.
  • Make a cluster of 3 double crochet (DC) into the ring, chain 2.
  • Repeat the cluster and chain 2 step until you have 4 clusters in the ring.
  • Slip stitch to the top of the chain 3 to close the round and cut the yarn, weaving in the end.

Edging:

  • You may add a row of single crochet around the edge if desired.
  • Add a couple of rows of single crochet along the top flap to create a sturdier edge.
