  • Contrast A Deep Sea (10920) 2 balls or 352 yds/322 m
  • Contrast B Moss (10803) 1 ball or 60 yds/55 m
  • Size U.S. L/11 (8 mm) Susan Bates® Silvalume® crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Susan Bates® yarn needle.
  • 1 set safety
  • eyes 12 mm diameter.
  • Polyester fiberfill.
  • Susan Bates® split-lock stitch markers.

Notes:

Body

Bottom of Pillow
  1. With Color A, chain 31. Refer to the diagram on page 3 for assistance.
  2. 1st Round:
    • 1 single crochet in 2nd chain from the hook.
    • 1 single crochet in each chain to the last chain.
    • 3 single crochets in the last chain.
    • Working on the opposite side of the foundation chain, 1 single crochet in each chain to the last chain.
    • 2 single crochets in the last chain.
    • Join with a slip stitch.
    • Total: 62 single crochets.
  3. 2nd Round:
    • Chain 1.
    • 2 single crochets in the first single crochet.
    • 1 single crochet in each of the next 28 single crochets.
    • 2 single crochets in each of the next 3 single crochets.
    • 1 single crochet in each of the next 28 single crochets.
    • 2 single crochets in each of the last 2 single crochets.
    • Join with a slip stitch.
    • Total: 68 single crochets.
  4. 3rd Round:
    • Chain 1.
    • 1 single crochet in the first single crochet.
    • 2 single crochets in the next single crochet.
    • 1 single crochet in each of the next 28 single crochets.
    • (1 single crochet in the next single crochet, 2 single crochets in the next single crochet) repeated 3 times.
    • 1 single crochet in each of the next 28 single crochets.

4th Round:

  • Ch 1.

5th Round:

  • Ch 1.

  • Join.
  • Repeat the 5th round until work from the beginning measures 13" [33cm].

Refer to the diagram on page 3.

1st Round:

  • Ch 1.
  • 1 sc in each of the next 28 sc. (1 sc in each of the next 2 sc. Sc2tog) 3 times.
  • Repeat from * once more.
  • Join. Total: 74 sc.

2nd Round:

  • Ch 1.
  • 1 sc in each sc around.
  • Join.

3rd Round:

  • Ch 1.
  • 1 sc in each of the next 28 sc. (1 sc in the next sc. Sc2tog) 3 times.
  • Repeat from * once more.
  • Join. Total: 68 sc.

4th to 7th Rounds:

  • Continue decreasing sc as instructed per round until the 7th round has 56 sc.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long end for sewing.

Finishing Touches:

  • Stuff the body.
  • Attach safety eyes according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Sew the top edge together with the long yarn end.

Stomach: (With Color B)

  1. Ch 3. (See diagram on page 4)
  2. 1st row (WS): 5 hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook. Turn. (5 hdc)
  3. 2nd row: Ch 2, 2 hdc in each hdc to end of row. Turn. (10 hdc)
  4. Continue increasing as instructed for each row, up to 30 hdc.
  5. Work 20 hdc evenly across the flat edge, then continue as instructed for additional rows.
  6. Fasten off and sew the stomach to the body as shown in the photo.

Arms and Legs (Make 4 alike):

  1. With Color A, ch 2. (Refer to the diagram on page 4)
  2. 1st rnd: 8 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Join. (8 sc)
  3. 2nd round: Ch 1, 1 sc in each sc around. Join.
  4. Repeat the 2nd round until the work from the beginning measures 9" [23 cm].
  5. Fasten off, leaving a long end for sewing to the body.

Eyelids (Make 2):

  • Again, with Color A, ch 3. Follow the instructions as provided, finishing with sewing them over the safety eyes.

Nostrils:

  • With a length of Color B, embroider the nostril on the Body as shown in the photo with a straight stitch.
