Through simple steps, you crochet around and around, adding stuffing as you go, to bring this playful apple to life. This crochet apple is not only cute but it's also a little project that packs a big punch of joy and creativity.

Materials Needed:

  • Yarn in red, brown, and green colors
  • 3.5 mm crochet needle (the tutorial mentions a 5 mm one, but uses a 3.5 mm)
  • Safety scissors
  • Yarn needle
  • Stuffing

Crochet Pattern:

1 Save

Apple Body:

  • Round 1: 6 single crochets (sc) in a magic ring.
  • Round 2: Increase (inc) in each stitch around (12).
  • Round 3: [Single crochet (sc), increase (inc)] x6 (18).
  • Round 4: [Sc in the next 2 stitches, inc] x6 (24).
  • Round 5: [Sc in the next 3 stitches, inc] x6 (30).
  • Round 6: [Sc in the next 4 stitches, inc] x6 (36).
  • Round 7: [Sc in the next 5 stitches, inc] x6 (42).
  • Round 8-10: Sc in each stitch around (42).
  • Round 11: Sc in each stitch around (42).
  • Round 12: [Sc in the next 11 stitches, invisible decrease (inv dec)] x3 (39).
  • Round 13: [Sc in the next 10 stitches, inv dec] x3 (36).
  • Round 14: [Sc in the next 9 stitches, inv dec] x3 (33).
  • Round 15: [Sc in the next 8 stitches, inv dec] x3 (30).
  • Round 16: [Sc in the next 7 stitches, inv dec] x3 (27).
  • Round 17: [Sc in the next 6 stitches, inv dec] x3 (24).
  • Round 18: [Sc in the next stitch, inv dec] x6 (18).
  • Round 19: [Sc, inv dec] x6 (12). Start stuffing the apple.
  • Round 20: 6 inv dec, and then fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing (6). Finish stuffing before closing.

Stalk:

2 Save

  • Start with a magic ring.
  • Round 1: 4 sc in magic ring.
  • Round 2-5: Sc in each stitch around (4). Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Leaf:

3 Save

  • Start with a chain 6.
  • From second chain from the hook, work 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, then 2 dc in the next stitch, 1 dc in the next, followed by a half double crochet (hdc), and a single crochet (sc) at the end chain.
  • On other side of the chain: 1 sc and chain, then 1 slip stitch in the same stitch, followed by a hdc, dc, 2 dc in the next stitch, and 2 dc in the last stitch.

Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

4 Save

Assembly:

  • Use the yarn needle and the long tails to sew the stalk and leaf onto the top of the apple.
  • Make sure to thread the yarn through both sides of the apple to create divots, pulling tightly to shape the apple before securing the yarn.
