Start with a Slip Knot:

  • Make a slip knot and place it on your crochet hook.

Foundation Chain:

  • Chain 41 stitches. This count includes one extra stitch which will not be used in the first row, ensuring you have an even base to work on.

First Row (Single Crochet):

  • Starting from the second chain from the hook, make a single crochet in every chain across. You will have 40 single crochets by the end of this row.

Transition to Second Row:

  • Chain 1 and turn your work.

Second Row (Single Crochet in Back Loop Only):

  • Make single crochets into the back loops only, for every stitch across.

Puff Stitch Section:

  • After completing 16 single crochets for edges, start making puff stitches. To make a puff stitch, yarn over, insert the hook into the same stitch, yarn over again, and pull through. Repeat this till you have 6 loops on the hook, then yarn over and pull through all 6 loops. Chain 1, skip a stitch, and make another puff stitch in the next.
  • Continue puff stitches till you are left with one stitch, into which you do a regular single crochet through both loops.

Continue the Pattern:

  • After completing your first set of puff stitches, chain 1, turn your work, and follow the same pattern as the second row but reversing the placement of single crochets and puff stitches as per your wrist warmer’s width.

Finishing Rows:

  • Finish your project by doing four rows of single crochets at both the beginning and the end of the wrist warmer, separated by the puff stitch patterns in the middle.

Joining:

  • Fold the wrist warmer with wrong sides together. Using the 3.5 mm hook and starting from one end, slip stitch the edges together. Leave an appropriate space for the thumb hole, continue slip stitching past the thumb hole to the end.
