Free Crochet Snowman Pattern

You’ll need

  • Yarn: Parfait Chunky (white, red, brown, orange, black)
  • 4 mm hook
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Polyfil (stuffing)
  • 12 mm safety eyes
  • 6mm safety eyes (optional for buttons)
  • Black worsted-weight yarn for face detailing (optional)

Abbreviations:

  • sc- single crochet
  • inc- increase
  • inv dec- invisible decrease
  • sl st- slip stitch
  • tr- treble crochet
  • mc- magic circle (or ch 2 method)
  • rnd(s) – round(s)
  • YO- yarn over
  • CC- colour change
  • f/o- fasten off
  • BB- bobble stitch

Special Stitches

Nose: YO x3, insert hook into next available stitch, YO, pull up a loop (YO, pull through 2 loops ) x3, cc to body color to YO and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook. (Cut the yarn and tie a knot inside of the body to secure the tails.)

Arm- YO x4, insert hook into next available stitch, YO, pull up a loop, (YO, pull through 2 loops ) x4, use body color to YO and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook. ( Cut the yarn and tie a knot inside of the body to secure the tails.)

• Bobble Stitch- **YO, insert hook into indicated stitch, YO, pull up a loop, YO pull through 2 loops**. Repeat from ** to 3 more times until you have 5 loops on your hook. YO and draw through all 5 loops to complete your bobble. If you need to push the bobble out after making it, feel free to do so.

  • This pattern is worked in continuous rounds; unless instructed otherwise, place a stitch marker at the beginning of every round.

  • Add 5mm safety eyes (button details) centered between first, rnd 11 and rnd 12, and the second one between rnd 14 and rnd 15. You can also embroider the button details with black yarn.
  • RND 16: (2sc, inv dec ) x2, 1 sc, BB, inv dec, 2sc, inv dec, BB, 1 sc, inv dec,2 sc, inv dec. (16 sc, 2 BB sts)
  • RND 17: (1 sc, inv dec) x6 ( 12 sc) Generously stuff and shape the body, don’t over stuff so that your buddy can sit.
