Materials Needed:

  • Hook size 4 (about 2.5 millimeter)
  • Green 4 ply yarn

Capstone Pattern:

Starting Chain:

  • Create a slip knot.
  • Chain 14.

Row 1:

  • Skip the first chain from the hook.
  • Insert hook into the back bar of the second chain, yarn over from back to front, then yarn over and pull through both loops.
  • Repeat this for the remaining chains.
  • You should have 13 stitches.
  • Chain one and turn your work.

Row 2:

  • Insert hook into the back bar of the second chain.
  • Yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over, and pull through both loops on the hook.
  • Continue this stitch for the rest of the row until the last stitch.
  • Chain one and turn your work.
  • Repeat Row 2 until you have a total of 20 rows.

Finishing:

  • Once Row 20 is completed, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Creating the Cactus Shape:

  • Draw one side of the capstone together with a drawstring approach.
  • Bring the sides together to meet.
  • Sew up the side, ensuring the stitches are secure.

Flower Top:

  • Construct a flower by starting with 6 single crochets into a magic ring.
  • In the same stitch, chain 2, then make triple crochet and double crochet stitches.
  • Repeat this step in the same space until you have 6 stitches.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

  • The soil part pattern begins with a magic ring of 6 single crochets.
  • Increase stitches in each subsequent row until you have 18 stitches.
