  • Pull up a loop with the new color and chain 4 (counts as your first treble crochet).
  • Creating Petals: Work 3 treble crochets together across the next chain spaces, starting in the same space as the chain 4. Remember to chain 2 between each set of petals.
  • Repeat step 3 around the circle to make 12 petals total, chain 2, then slip stitch to the top of the beginning chain 4 to join.

For Round 3:

  • Attach white yarn in between any two petals.
  • Chain 4 (counts as first triple crochet).
  • In the same space, work two more triple crochets, chain 3, and then 3 more triple crochets to make the first corner.
  • For the sides: Chain 1, work 3 double crochets in the next space between petals, chain 1 again, then 3 double crochets in the following space.
  • Making Corners: After working the side sets, make a corner by working [3 triple crochets, chain 3, 3 triple crochets] in the same space.
  • Repeat this pattern all around and slip stitch to the first triple crochet to join.

Round 4 (Optional for extra size):

  • Start in any corner space, tie on your yarn, chain 2 (counts as first double crochet).
  • In the corner space, work [2 sets of 3 double crochets, chain 3 in between] for the corner.
  • Work 3 double crochets in each space across the sides.
  • At each corner, work 2 sets of 3 double crochets, chaining 3 between each set.
  • Slip stitch to the beginning chain 2 to join. Cut yarn and weave in ends.

Joining Squares:

  • Use an invisible join technique with a yarn needle to sew the squares together. Make sure right sides are facing together, and you're working in back loops only to achieve an invisible seam.
  • Join squares to make strips according to the desired blanket size (e.g., 5 squares by 6 squares for a 5x6 blanket).
  • Then, join the strips together.

Border:

  • Start with a granny stitch round using white yarn. Work around the blanket with double crochets, making corners by working [3 double crochets, chain 3, 3 double crochets].

Optionally, follow with rounds of single crochets for thickness, and finish with a scalloped edge (shell stitch) for a decorative touch.

  • To work a shell stitch: Skip one stitch, then in the next stitch work 5 double crochets. Skip a stitch and work one single crochet. Repeat around the border.

Finishing:

Weave in any remaining ends, and your blanket is complete!
