  • Baby snuggle yarn in two colors: gray for the body and cream/white for the muzzle
  • 5mm crochet hook
  • 12mm plastic safety eyes for teddy bears
  • Plastic nose (optional)

  • sc: single crochet
  • inc: increase (2 sc in one stitch)
  • dec: decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
  • sl st: slip stitch

Head

  1. Start with gray yarn
    • Create a slip knot and ch 2.
    • Rnd 1: 6 sc in the second ch from the hook. (6 sts)
    • Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
    • Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) around. (18 sts)
    • Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) around. (24 sts)
    • Rnds 5-9: Sc in each st around. (5 rounds total, 24 sts)

Save

  1. Position Eyes
    • Insert 12mm safety eyes between Rnds 7 and 8, 3 sts apart.
  2. Continue working
    • Rnd 10: (3 sc, dec) around. (18 sts)
    • Rnd 11: (2 sc, dec) around. (12 sts)
    • Rnd 12: (1 sc, dec) around. (8 sts)
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the head with fiberfill.

Save

Ears (Make 2)

  1. With gray yarn
    • Create a slip knot and ch 2.
    • Rnd 1: 6 sc in the second ch from the hook. (6 sts)
    • Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Fold ear in half and sew onto the head.

Body

  1. With gray yarn
    • Create a slip knot and ch 2.

    • Rnds 9-10: Sc in each st around. (2 rounds, 18 sts)
    • Rnd 11: (4 sc, dec) around. (15 sts)
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff with fiberfill before attaching the head.

Legs (Make 2)

  1. With gray yarn

    • Rnd 2: (1 sc, inc) around. (9 sts)
    • Rnds 3-4: Sc in each st around. (2 rounds, 9 sts)
    • Rnd 5: (1 sc, dec) around. (6 sts)
    • Rnds 6-10: Sc in each st around. (5 rounds, 6 sts)
    • Stuff with fiberfill. Flatten the top, and sc through both layers to close.
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Muzzle

  1. With cream/white yarn
    • Create a slip knot and ch 2.
    • Rnd 1: 6 sc in the second ch from the hook. (6 sts)
    • Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
    • Rnd 3: Sc in each st around. (12 sts)
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Save

Tail

  1. With gray yarn
    • Attach yarn to the appropriate place on the back of the body.
    • Create 5 loops (puff stitch) and chain one more.
    • Fasten off and tuck in the ends.

Assembly

  1. Attach the eyes and nose to the head if not already done.
  2. Sew the muzzle onto the head just below the eyes.
  3. Sew the head to the body.
  4. Sew the ears, arms, and legs to the body in the appropriate positions.
