  • 2.0 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Needle
  • Stitch marker or clip (optional)
  • A pair of 6 mm safety eyes
  • Stuffing (pillow filling)

Step-by-Step Pattern

  1. Start with Green Yarn:
    • Make a magic ring.
    • Round 1: 6 single crochets (sc) in the magic ring.
    • Round 2: Increase (inc) in each stitch (12 stitches).
    • Round 3: 1 sc, 1 inc - repeat around (18 stitches).
    • Round 4: 2 sc, 1 inc - repeat around (24 stitches).
    • Round 5: 1 sc in each stitch (24 stitches).
  2. Color Change to Red Yarn:
    • Round 6:
      • 8 sc in green.
      • Change to red before closing the 8th sc.
      • 8 sc in red.
      • Change back to green before closing the last red sc.
      • 8 sc in green.
      • Cut and hide the red yarn.
  3. Alternate Colors:
    • Round 7:
      • 7 sc in green.
      • Change to red before closing the 7th sc.
      • 10 sc in red.
      • Change back to green before closing the last red sc.
      • 7 sc in green.
      • Cut and hide the red yarn.
    • Round 8:
      • 6 sc in green.
      • Change to red before closing the 6th sc.
      • 12 sc in red.
      • Change back to green before closing the last red sc.

  5. Change to Yellow Yarn:
    • Round 10:
      • 5 increases in yellow.

    • Rounds 11-15:
      • 1 sc in each stitch (34 stitches for 5 rounds).
  6. Decreasing Rounds:
    • Round 16:
      • 5 sc.
      • 4 sc, 1 decrease (dec) - repeat 4 times.
      • 5 sc (30 stitches).
    • Round 17:
      • 6 sc.
      • 1 sc, 1 dec - repeat 6 times.
      • 6 sc (24 stitches).
    • Round 18:
      • 3 sc.
      • 1 sc, 1 dec - repeat 6 times.
      • 3 sc (18 stitches).
    • Round 19:
      • 1 sc, 1 dec - repeat around (12 stitches).
  7. Finish with Green Yarn (Tail):
    • Round 20-27:
      • 1 sc in each stitch (12 stitches for 8 rounds).
  8. Close and Finish:
    • Stuff the hummingbird.
    • Fold the piece horizontally.
    • Crochet 6 sc across to close.
    • Chain 1, cut the yarn (leave a tail), pull through, and hide the yarn inside the piece with a needle.
