Once done, this little cherry can dangle from your keys, making you smile every time you reach for them. Whether for yourself or a sweet gift for someone special. This crochet cherry keychain is a charm that adds a sprinkle of happiness to everyday moments.

Materials Needed:

  • Sport yarn (e.g., Alize Diva)
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Fiberfill for stuffing
  • Yarn or piece of yarn (for stitch marker)

Cherry Pattern

Magic Circle and Base:

1

Start with a magic circle. (If unfamiliar with the magic circle, it's suggested to find a tutorial for it).

  • Chain 1
  • Make 6 single crochets (sc) into the magic circle.
  • Pull the ring tight to close.

Round 2:

  • Make 2 sc in each stitch around for a total of 12 sc.

FRound 3:

  • 1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the following stitch, repeat around for a total of 18 sc.

Round 4:

  • 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch, repeat around for a total of 24 sc.

Rounds 5-8:

2

  • 1 sc in each stitch around. (24 sc each round)

Round 9 (Decreasing Starts):

  • 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, then crochet decrease (dec) over the next 2 stitches by inserting the hook into the front loop of the next stitch, then directly into the back loop of the following stitch and completing the decrease, repeat around for a total of 18 stitches.

Round 10:

  • 1 sc, then 1 dec, repeat around for a total of 12 stitches.

3

Stuff the Cherry:

  • Begin to stuff the cherry with fiberfill. Adjust the amount of filling as needed, ensuring not too packed but also not too loose.

Round 11:

  • Work 4 decreases around for a total of 8 stitches.

Closing:

  • Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail onto a yarn needle. Weave the needle through the front loops of the remaining 8 stitches. Pull tight to close. Secure and weave in the end.

Stem and Leaves:

4

Stem:

  • With green yarn, chain 25. Secure the end with a knot.
  • Attach the stem to the cherry by threading the tail of the yarn through the top of the cherry and securing it.

Leaf:

  • Chain 10.
  • In the second chain from the hook, make 1 sc.
  • 1 half double crochet (hdc) in the next chain, 1 double crochet (dc) in the next, 1 triple (tr) in the next, then dc, hdc, and 3 sc - this forms one side of the leaf.
  • Work on the opposite side of the chain repeating the pattern in reverse order to mirror the first half.
  • Finish by slip stitching through the leaf center to the starting chain.
  • To create a keychain loop, chain 3 and slip stitch into the next chain. From here, you can create another leaf following the steps above, adjusting the size if you wish by varying the number of stitches.
  • Cut the yarn and weave in all ends to finish.

Finishing:

Combine the completed cherries with the stems and leaves as desired, securing all parts firmly.
