How to Crochet the 2 dc cl st

  1. Y/O, insert hook into the center of the circle, Y/O and pull up a loop.
  2. Y/O and pull through 2 loops on the hook.
  3. Y/O and insert hook into the center of the circle again, Y/O and pull up a loop.
  4. Y/O and pull through 2 loops on the hook.
  5. Y/O and pull through all 3 loops on the hook.
  6. Ch 1.

Starburst Granny Square

  • Make 10 starbursts.
  1. Round 1:
    With Color A, ch 4, and join with a sl st to form a ring. Ch 2 (counts as first dc), then work 11 dc into the ring. Join with sl st to the first dc.
  2. Round 2:
    Join color B in any space between the DC sts from Round 1. Ch 2 (counts as first cl st). Work a 2 dc cl st in each space around (12 cluster sts total). Join with a sl st to the first ch 1 space.
  3. Round 3:
    Join color C in any ch 1 space. Ch 2, then work 2 dc in the same space, followed by 3 dc in each ch 1 space around (12 shells total). Join with a sl st to the first dc.
  4. Round 4 (joining round):
    Join a new color in any space between shells and ch 3. Work a corner of (2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr) and then dc groups in each space with corners in the 4th space.

Assembling Cowl

  • Using the JAYGO method, join the squares according to the pattern chart/graph provided with your results.

Border

  1. Round 1:
    Join color A to any stitch at the top edge of the cowl. Ch 1 and work one round of sc in each st around. Join with a sl st.
  2. Round 2 (Picot Edge):
    Ch 3, sc into 3rd ch from hook (picot made). Skip the next st, sl st into the next. Repeat around. Finish with a sl st in the base of the first picot. Fasten off.

Repeat both border rounds on the bottom edge of the cowl.
